The Black Magic KL circle hook is an excellent pattern to use on a variety of fish species.  They are particularly effective on whiting as Lee showed in Episode 1 of Season 8.  The hook up rate is extremely high and the fish are usually hooked in the corner of the mouth.  Remember when using cricle hooks there is no need to strike hard when you feel the bite.  Let the fish take the bait then slowly load up the rod until you feel the weight of the fish.
